There is a certain ruefulness that befalls one who sees through the illusion of life’s game. A person no longer values the same things that society does. Those values become trivial, and it’s not because of an inflated sense of ego. It’s because the values are divisive and not aligned with what the person has seen: a greater sense of unity. The rueful mood might sound like there’s an aspect of regret, but it’s not like that. It’s a sense of having lost one’s β€œinnocence” of the old self. The old ways, companions, and even family members may begin some kind of slow departure from one’s life. The benefit of such a cost may come into question: is moving toward ultimate good worth the cost? The answer should be yes because one stands to gain one’s true self.
