The “observer effect” is named in psychology and in quantum physics. While it operates differently in each, they are almost identical in nature. In this personal growth program, it also operates similarly with personal power.

What I want to communicate here is that there is a metaphorical unity between measurement and attention that can potentially transform you.

The idea is that an object, state, or concept exists in a “blurry” or unclear state. The moment it is measured, observed, or sensed, it expands or becomes more defined. It doesn’t literally get bigger, but our understanding of it grows.

Utilizing this, you can learn to change your behavior.

In Quantum Physics

This is a new field of study that is making new progress.

In this study, an environment, or system, exists as a probability wave. This means that the chance of finding a specific particle within that wave is infinite. The particle possesses superposition, which means it could exist anywhere within that wave at any time. For all intents, it exists everywhere in that wave at the same time. The moment that wave is measured, sensed, or observed, it collapses. It is forced by observation to choose one probable reality where the particle exists in one location.

Understand that what a particle becomes isn’t up to you. You cannot force something to appear before you by somehow manipulating the probability wave. The physics of reality determine what the particle becomes.

Comparing this to the personal power model, our unconscious existence is like a probability wave. When you don’t observe, measure, or sense your inner world, your emotions and behaviors exist in a chaotic, confusing cloud. The moment you bring The Witness to bear on your inner environment, you “measure” the moment, and what was a blur of chaos and automatic reactions starts to take a more definite shape. They become a single point of conscious clarity.

In Psychology

In modern clinical psychology, avoidance increases suffering. Fighting feelings and suppressing them only increases their intensity. Accepting them diminishes them.

Attention bias is the idea that whatever you focus on, your brain starts noticing it more, which makes it feel larger than it is. For example, when you learn a new word, perhaps you start hearing it more often. It’s not that it didn’t exist before, but your focused brain makes it seem as if it exists more frequently.

What you resist persists; what you focus expands.

Sigmund Freud, the German psychoanalyst, and Carl Jung, the famous Swiss psychiatrist, noted that when you suppress emotions, you take on Emotional Debt and Friction. Therefore, when you shift your focus toward the emotional debt, it gives the messy cloud of the inner environment a more defined shape. Instead of emotions appearing as tornadoes, they appear more like buildings in a skyline.

Your focus expands the emotional debt, and when you do this, the energy powering the tornadoes is starved. The tornadoes dissipate, and the energy your focus generates moves toward a solution.

In Personal Power

The integration of quantum physics and psychology is combined with the Meta-awareness & Spotlight Theory in this program’s own “Observer Observing the Observed Effect”, or OOO Effect for short. Follow the link to see how these are all tied together.
