The Program

Core Philosophy

FIRST
LOVE AS THE ULTIMATE ENVIRONMENT

This program operates under a single, all-encompassing premise: Love is not a passive emotion; it is the ultimate, all-accepting environment.

Love is the space in which both the light and the dark parts of human experience are allowed to exist without judgment. Every experience is a human experience. We do not look to escape the darkness or bypass hardships; we face the darkness in the shade of the light. That means we use our personal power to stand strong, not run away, suppress, or hide. Because love accepts all, every failure is a step forward.

SECOND
PERSONAL POWER

You already have your own personal power, but the modern world has intentionally or accidentally severed our access to it. Whatever the reason, we have forgotten it. The knowledge on how to reclaim it is left unspoken, and we are left without a light to feel our way through life’s challenges.

This program identifies over 100 abilities that we collectively call “personal power”. It consists of your many awarenesses, strengths, stability, agency, and more. These are already a part of you, but they are like muscles that need to be trained. It might take a lifetime to find your personal power by looking everywhere it isn’t. Instead, we teach you how to look inside yourself.

THIRD
SOVEREIGNTY OF GOOD

Since love is the acceptance of all, the program strives for a preference toward good as opposed to evil. We refer to this preference as the “sovereignty of good”.

Love cherishes both good and evil, but the drive of love is to accept, support, and prioritize, while evil is to reject, isolate, or victimize. Progress and growth are the preferred path to idleness, but growth isn’t exclusive to positivity. We can grow negatively, too.

While each person chooses their own preference, the program prefers a positive growth that is the least destructive and the most considerate of all choices. Further, it is our own belief that we are all one in togetherness, and striving for love means accepting one’s own preferences while coexisting respectfully with everyone else’s.

FOURTH
TEXT IS DEAD

Books and videos can give you information, but they cannot give you discernment. They cannot work through your personal issues. They are static because they say the same thing whether you understand them or not. True alignment with your inherent power requires a living dialectic, which is a dialogue where you are actively listened to, cross-examined without judgment. You are encouraged to make your own truths, while the traits of this program serve as a supportive framework.

A dialectic is represented in the following cycle:

  • Thesis: the initial idea
  • Antithesis: an opposing argument
  • Synthesis: a new, evolved understanding

Socrates, a great inspiration to this program, practiced dialectic without passing judgments. He believed that text only appears to make people wise, text is a replacement for memory, and text provides only a shallow understanding. Using text places knowledge outside the self, while true power of it inhabits the mind.

He argued that asking a book questions provides no clarifying answers because the words only repeat themselves. He preferred discussion over text since clarification of meaning was more accessible and each session was personal.

Even Marcus Aurelius, the famous Stoic and Roman emperor, agreed with this philosophy, but he was surrounded by flatterers. He wrote journals and played a dialectic between himself, like playing a solo chess match where each side strove to win. Whatever dialectic is chosen, the goal is to test the participant’s understanding.

Methodology

The program is structured to respect your energy and time. We move away from lectures and focus on active, practical, and, ultimately, interactive sessions.

ONE
Modular, High-Density Lessons

Each of the abilities in your personal powers is examined in practical lessons. Each module focuses on one aspect at a time to maintain focus and reduces being overwhelmed. You are given solid ground to stand on before moving forward.

TWO
Techniques

We do not lecture. We provide insight through practical lessons.

  • Socratic questioning: This helps you to uncover specific, internal blockages or blind spots by forming a dialectic, wherein two people examine an issue without judgment.
  • Thought Experiments: We strip away your mental loops to see your private reality as compared to reality itself.
  • Learning Points & Misery Points: We identify the exact moments where friction, suffering, or repetitive patterns occur in your life. We transform them into observable, conscious detail. We learn how neglecting to address hardships can lead to miseries.
  • Demonstrations: To illustrate the lessons behind your personal power, we will demonstrate the meaning through short stories, symbolism, and poignant observations. These reveal hidden insights and glaring mistakes.
  • Mnemonic Devices: We use clever sayings to help you recall the lessons, similar to PEMDAS (from math class), the alphabet song, and the months of the year song. These act like automatic memory refreshers at a moment’s notice because they are simple, sometimes silly, phrases.

THREE
Support Levels

We provide self-guided materials through YouTube and supplemental materials. Everyone is free to move through those at their own volition.

  • Level 1, Supporter: Free access to the YouTube videos. These are fast, packed, and generalized navigation points that can apply to anyone. They help to identify patterns.
  • Level 2, Member: The YouTube channel membership provides longer, deeper insights into specific abilities in your personal power, exploratory questions, and prompts for personal reflection.
  • Level 3, Correspondent: This is for those who want regular, scheduled one-on-one guidance sessions. I don’t see myself as your guru, therapist, or teacher, and you are not my student, pupil, or follower. I do not preach, lecture, or judge you. We are co-examiners of your current situation, and I just facilitate the session. I listen, ask the questions to help you untangle your blockages, confront your shadows with you, and guide you to peace so that you can unlock your power. You decide when to stop.

Regarding Socrates’s idea of dialectic debate, the YouTube videos and materials may not be enough to enlighten a person to their personal power. He believed text makes the human memory lazy, hence our usage of mnemonics. Discussion is a genuine test of memory so that the understanding of the principles serves the participant better, not the texts.

This is why the one-on-one discussion in support level 3 is the ideal form of self discovery. Static media has its limitations. For example, a person might understand an ability of their power, but somehow they may not be able to access it.

FAQ

Q: Why should I do this? A: In simple terms, you should do this to be a better person. In this program, you are trying to find what you lost: your original, personal power. Maybe you don’t know you lost it, but there is a power in everyone that isn’t easily seen. The goal of the program is for you to want to find your power and do the hard work to claim it.

Q: What if I don’t feel I’ve lost or forgotten something? A: That’s easy to do if you don’t remember that you ever had it. It’s hard to recall something you forgot without something to remind you. The best prison is one without walls, and the best slaves are those who aren’t educated to know better. This program seeks to bring that education, which seems to be lacking in most public institutions.

Q: How does A Lighthouse help me find it? A: You learn how to look inward. The program isn’t a self-centered, eccentric, and exclusive movement open only the few, so the only restrictions are those you put on yourself. There are best practices, which may be hard to follow, and not everyone is ready to face the dark parts of themselves. Take the program in stages, when you feel ready for more.

Q: What if I don’t know how or I don’t understand? A: We use Socratic questioning to customize the program to your life experience. We also use symbolism, such as metaphors and analogies, to make abstract ideas more concrete. You are free to ask your own questions to seek better understanding.

Q: What do I learn? A: You learn answers to existential questions that many people have: who am I; where am I; why am I here; what’s the meaning of it all; how do I become a better person? You learn to remember, access, and use your personal power to understand your emotions and use them with logic to make efficient life choices.

Q: How will I remember the strategies I learn? A: The symbolism in the program delivers powerful messages appropriate to your personal background, and we use mnemonic devices to pack lessons into a memorable phrases. We also have YouTube videos to help you remember the content any time.

Q: What if I need help? A: You can ask for help through the personal consultation portion of the program. Finding your support group (your friends, your loved ones, professional help, and whoever else you trust) can help you stand on your own two feet. One day, by working through your particular hardships, you will be strong enough to stand on your own.
